Alemtiaz generator beside a sports stadium

Alemtiaz Kuwaiti for Logistic and Oil & Gas Services Co. supplies new and used diesel generators to stadiums, sports halls and tournaments in Kuwait, for sale or daily and monthly rental, with a site survey and load calculation, delivery, installation and commissioning within 24 hours including cables and transfer switches, and emergency maintenance within 24 hours.

Typically 20 to 250 kVA or more, depending on lighting, the number of towers, cooling and sound systems.

Why do stadiums and sports facilities need a generator?

Matches, training sessions and tournaments at stadiums and sports halls usually run in the evening, relying on floodlight towers, scoreboards, sound systems, cooling and changing rooms. A power cut stops the match or event and leaves spectators in the dark, which affects crowd safety and the organiser’s reputation before it is an operating loss. Many tournaments and temporary sports events are also held on open grounds or at sites without a grid connection that can carry the load, so the generator becomes the main power source for the whole event.

How much generator capacity does a stadium need?

Capacity depends on the type of lighting and the number of towers, then on sound systems, scoreboards, cooling and facilities. The table below shows typical values as a guide:

Facility or load Typical capacity
Training pitch or five-a-side pitch with LED lighting 20 to 60 kVA
Sound systems, scoreboards and media rooms 20 to 60 kVA
Indoor sports hall with cooling 60 to 160 kVA
Football stadium with full floodlight towers 100 to 250 kVA or more

These are typical values only. We set the number of units and their exact capacity after a site survey and a load calculation. At tournaments we spread the load over more than one generator, so the lights stay on if one unit needs servicing.

Is the generator the main supply or a standby?

At tournaments and temporary events the generator is the main supply for the whole event, and we arrange refuelling before or between matches. Permanent stadiums and halls connected to the grid need a standby generator with a transfer switch that starts it during an outage. LED floodlights come back as soon as power returns, while some older lamps need several minutes to cool down and strike again, and we take that into account when choosing the solution.

Where does the generator go at a sports facility?

We place generators in a service area away from the stands, spectator entrances and player routes, with enough space for ventilation and refuelling, and where needed we choose units with a silent canopy so noise does not disturb spectators or broadcasts. We run cables in a protected way that does not get in the way of crowds, and review the distribution boards with the venue team before the event.

Frequently asked questions

It depends on the number of floodlight towers and the type of lamps. We calculate the load after surveying the venue, and for matches and tournaments we usually spread it over more than one generator so the lights never all go out if one unit stops.
