Used generators

Used generators of recent models with low running hours and a warranty on all parts, for sale with delivery and commissioning.

Why choose a used generator rather than a new one?

A good used generator gives you the same output at a lower cost, making it a practical choice for farms, workshops and sites that need a permanent generator without tying up a large budget in new equipment. The value of a used generator, however, depends entirely on its condition, its service history and who stands behind it after the sale. That is the difference between buying a used genset on the open market and buying one from a specialist company.

Alemtiaz Kuwaiti is an Ahmadi-based company that sells used diesel generators of recent models with low running hours, backed by a warranty on all generator parts and regular servicing by the company, across Kuwait.

What sets Alemtiaz used generators apart?

  • Recent models: we select generators whose spare parts are still available and whose technology suits today’s use.
  • Low running hours: we show you the hours exactly as they appear on the meter, because this is the best indicator of the engine’s remaining life.
  • Warranty on all generator parts: the warranty is not limited to the engine, it covers every part of the generator.
  • Regular servicing by the company: the generators we offer are serviced regularly by our team, so you know what has been done before you buy.

What do we inspect before offering a generator for sale?

Every used generator goes through an inspection covering the engine, the alternator and the control panel, ending with a load test. The table above summarises the main inspection points and what you receive for each. We encourage you to attend the test yourself or with your engineer, because a generator running confidently under load in front of you says more than any description.

If you are comparing several offers on the market, our used generator checklist will help you assess any generator before you buy it, whether from us or from someone else. It covers the engine, cooling, alternator, control panel and the paperwork you should ask the seller for.

Does the purchase include installation and commissioning?

Yes. Our role does not end at handover. We take care of:

  1. Delivery to your site anywhere in Kuwait.
  2. Installation and commissioning, connecting the generator to your distribution board or automatic transfer system.
  3. Warranty on all generator parts under the terms of sale.
  4. Maintenance and spare parts after the sale, through our generator maintenance team and spare parts department.

This means you have one party responsible for the generator from the day you buy it, instead of moving between a seller, a technician and a parts supplier.

How do I choose the right size in a used generator?

The same rule applies as for a new generator: calculate your actual loads in kilowatts, add a margin for the starting current of air conditioners and pumps, and another margin for the Kuwaiti summer heat. Because a used generator may run on your site for many years, also consider loads you might add in future. We explain the calculation in our article on kVA versus kW, and our team can review your loads with you before you choose.

What should I ask before buying any used generator?

Before paying for any used generator, from Alemtiaz or anyone else, ask these questions and expect clear answers:

  • How many running hours does it have, and is the meter original?
  • When was it last serviced, and what did the service include?
  • Can the generator be run under load in front of me before purchase?
  • What does the warranty cover, how long does it last and who honours it?
  • Are spare parts for this model available in Kuwait?
  • Who will handle installation and maintenance after the sale?

A seller who hesitates over any of these questions is giving you a signal you should not ignore. Be wary, too, of generators priced well below comparable units, as the difference often lies in undeclared running hours, temporary repairs or the absence of anyone responsible after the sale.

What happens when the warranty ends?

Our relationship does not end with the warranty. You can continue to receive maintenance and spare parts from the same team that has known your generator’s history since the day you bought it, which makes diagnosis easier and reduces errors. You can also agree an annual or scheduled maintenance contract with regular visits and priority access to our emergency service, which responds within 24 hours. For generators that run long hours, we recommend reviewing the condition of the engine and alternator at least once a year, so the generator keeps its value should you decide to sell or replace it later.

Is a used or a new generator right for me?

A used generator suits limited budgets and standby or moderate duty. For sites that demand continuous running over very long periods or special specifications, a new generator may be the better choice, and we also sell new generators from brands such as Eicher and Cooper. Tell us how you will use it and we will set out both options honestly.
