How is a generator sized for an oil site?

Sizing follows a review of continuous and starting loads, taking into account that intense summer heat in the fields reduces a generator’s usable output. We explain this in our article on heat derating. The table below shows typical values for guidance:

These are typical values only. The final size depends on the project specification and the approved load schedules. In large camps it is often better to spread the load across several generators rather than a single large unit, so part of the supply continues during scheduled maintenance and each generator runs within a load range that protects its efficiency and fuel consumption.

How do we handle health, safety and environment requirements?

We understand that oil sites operate under strict health, safety and environment (HSE) requirements. We therefore review each site’s requirements before supply, coordinate access and installation times with the contractor’s team, and fit generators with diesel tanks, with refuelling arranged as agreed. Is rental available for the full contract term?

Yes. We rent generators by the day, month or year to match the contract term, and new or used generators are also available for purchase where permanent assets are needed.
